Only in Stoke Newington. Residents living near Clissold Park are worried that the imminent draining of the park’s two lakes – the first stage in the multi-million pound Clissold regeneration – will lead to a rat infestation. According to the minutes of the latest Clissold Park Action Group meeting (I read it so you don’t have to), the prospect of a rodent invasion has prompted consternation. continue reading »
Did you know that the lakes in Clissold Park, Stoke Newington (seen in this picture by Fin Fahey) were formed by water from Hackney Brook? The brook is a long-forgotten waterway, now culverted as a sewer and hidden from view, that had a significant influence in the way Stoke Newington, Clapton and Hackney developed.
